Greenshift aims to provide resources for anyone trying to move towards a more sustainable way of life but particularly people who do not have the support of a local Transition Town or Greening Campaign. Coming up with a name was difficult but it helped to encapsulate our objectives:
- Greenshifting is downshifting to a simpler, less materialistic way of life driven by a concern for environmental sustainability.
- A shift can start with a small movement. Trying to make huge life-style changes overnight can result in failure and a loss of motivation.
- A shift involves changing your perspective. Once you start to see yourself as part of the web of life then looking after your environment becomes the best way of ensuring your own future.
- Shift implies action. When you 'come on shift', you assume responsibility. You get the job done.
- Shift implies urgency. The clock is ticking but if we act decisively there is still time to save our planet from catastrophic change.
We're not experts, just ordinary people trying to do our best to live more earth-friendly lives, pass on what we've found useful and to learn from others on the same path. If we can do it, anyone can!

So let's get shifting!
Kind regards, the Greenshift team
